Fall Into Fashion!
Today was my monday back to work and it certainly felt like the first day of fall. i was so excited that i couldn't wait for my 4p.m shift to start so that could put on my EXPRESS trench coat that i bought. I have to say after putting it on and walking outside for the first time in it made me feel fresh and very happy, which brings me to Fall fashion. If you haven't heard fall is the season to start putting away those short shorts and start bringing out the sweaters, long sleeve tees, and jackets.
EXPRESS is sure to have the tools for you fashionista's to throw on that cardigan that you've been wanting ever since you saw its launch on the company's website. if you haven't yet then here's the link
http://www.express.com/home.jsp . "You're Getting Warmer" is EXPRESS' current quote for this months fall top layers. We have everything for you there so that you can have that "fall" complete look you need this season.
Day off!
So I woke up this afternoon around 1:30p.m. and was obligated to help my boyfriend clean the apartment for his birthday party which he's featuring tomorrow promptly at 4p.m.. he's finally turning 24 years old. Anyways I started with decorations and party favors i.e; (chips, drinks, cups, candy, etc). Since he is a "halloween baby" we decided to go with the spooky theme. That's right, i put up Spider Webs and halloween window gels while listening to show tunes. my next task that was appointed to me was to clean the bathroom tub because there is high traffic coming through this place so it only takes about a week for the tub to start turning black. afterwards i decided to wash the stove top because it was unacceptable. Tonight's plans are conventional and should be entertaining. Eric is having a pre party dinner later this evening at his favorite restaurant "BJ's" followed by a quick drive to West Hollywood to end the drunken night. this should be quite an evening. Until next time. Ciao. - Glenson
The Rules to Fashion Expertise
1. First and foremost learn about the history of fashion! There is no point not knowing why your clothes look like what they do and how fashion changed throughout time. Coco Chanel changed how women dress, so it's worth renting the Lifetime movie about her.
2. First you need to know all of the 'fashion lingo'. This is worth researching, as after all, you want to know what you're talking about. Don't go overboard using words no one's ever heard of.
3. Keep up on the latest trends. If you're not keeping up on trends, to fellow fashion experts you'll seem, well, clueless. Read Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and WWD to hear what's in. It's important to know which trends work and which don't though; for example, skinny jeans might flatter you whereas Boot cut pants are just plain ugly. It is important to be a trendsetter, but Anna Wintour's words are worth respecting.
4. Create a totally cool outfit that looks and feels great. Use matching colors and patterns. When you buy your clothes make sure they fit. You don't want them too tight or too baggy. Also make sure they feel good. Don't buy them if they make you itchy or very uncomfortable. Make sure that you feel confident in the clothes. If all the requirments are good then buy it!
5. accessories accessories accessories. From beads to earrings or rings to bracelets. You can add color and spunk to any outfit with accessories. Make sure that they match and they don't feel uncomfortable.
6. Invest in classics. It's important to splurge on basics, because if you're going to wear something all the time, it better be high-quality and fit well. A cashmere cardigan, trench coat, string of pearls, pant suit, and little black dress will take you from season to season year to year. You could always find something very similar to it for less money, but it might tear or be itchy and uncomfortable.
7. Wear an outfit totally different then anybody else would. Mix and match patterns and colors or maybe try leggings and a long shirt. Whatever it is make sure people would want to follow that trend. But don't make them.
8. A reputation as a trendsetter is key. Shop at the local designer stores; even if you're not that rich, there must be something in there you afford (example: a pair of gloves, sunglasses). Be a devoted client to these boutiques and you will get noticed for your style. In addition, outlet stores offer the biggest discounts and will definitely give you the opportunity to shop locally.
In addition to all these great tips, remember to always know who you are and how you represent yourself because image is everything, especially in the fashion world. - Glenson
